He also expressed his gratitude to veteran Lee Jae-won, who works as a catcher. "I can pitch the best when I completely trust the catcher. I trust Lee Jae-won 100 percent because he led so well," Weiss said. "Lee Jae-won has been a catcher in this league for longer than I have played baseball. I respect his decades of experience." 

Ponce's presence as the first starter is also a good motivation for him. Ponce has been pitching among the best in seven games (46 innings) with five wins, no loss and a 1.96 strikeouts. "I always throw after Ponce, and I get motivated and stimulated to throw well," said Weiss, who is throwing as the second starter after Ponce. With this momentum, Hanwha will not likely set a new record of the largest combined number of wins among foreign pitchers in a single season.
